We're excited to introduce you to Conrad, the owner/director/carpenter/sweeper upper! of BlueWood Handyman and your instructor for Private Carpentry & Joinery Tuition.
Conrad has been teaching carpentry and joinery to students aged 16 and over for over 3 years and is himself City and Guilds qualified in both Site Carpentry and Bench Joinery.
With over 30 years of experience in the construction and property industry, Conrad brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and practical skills to his role as a tutor. He's passionate about sharing his love for woodworking with others and takes a friendly, helpful, and approachable approach to teaching.
Conrad also holds a degree in Business Information Technology, which provides an alternative and unique perspective on the construction and property industry.
This diverse range of skills and experience allows Conrad to tailor his teaching to meet the needs and interests of each individual student.

Our Private Carpentry & Joinery Tuition program is designed to teach you the basics of carpentry and joinery in a safe and controlled environment. Safety is our top priority, and we will cover woodworking safe practices and personal protective equipment (PPE) before we even pick up a tool.
The programme covers both hand tools and power tools, so you'll learn how to use a variety of tools to create woodworking projects.
For hand tools, we'll cover:
- Saws
- Planes
- Chisels
- Marking Out
For power tools, we'll cover:
- Drills
- Electric Planes
- Jigsaws
- Chop Saws
- Sanders
- Routers
You'll have the opportunity to use all of these tools under the guidance of our experienced tutor.
We'll also cover woodworking joints, which are essential to creating strong and durable projects. The program includes instruction on:
- Half Laps
- Mortise and Tenon
- Dovetail Joints
All the above joints are fundamental joints used in many woodworking projects. You'll learn how to create these joints with precision and accuracy, and how to use them effectively in your own projects.
By the end of the programme, you'll have gained a solid foundation in carpentry and joinery, and you'll be able to apply your new skills to create your own woodworking projects.

We welcome applications from anyone who has a keen interest in learning carpentry and joinery, regardless of your previous experience. However, to make the most of our Private Carpentry & Joinery Tuition programme, we would ideally like our applicants to have the following:
A passion for carpentry and joinery: We want our students to be excited about learning new skills and creating woodworking projects.
Video recording experience: We ask that our students help us record and edit the sessions, so some previous experience in video recording and editing would be beneficial.
Basic understanding of video editing: While not essential, some knowledge of video editing software would be helpful in creating high-quality recordings of the sessions.
Attention to detail: Carpentry and joinery require precision and accuracy, so attention to detail is essential.
Good communication skills: Our tutor will be on hand to offer guidance and support throughout the programme, so good communication skills are important.
A willingness to learn: We're looking for students who are eager to learn and willing to put in the time and effort to develop their skills.
